Hello and welcome. This is an article that may be GREATLY needed. At the very least I think it is. I started wearing makeup around the age of 14 and once I began, it was actually the WRONG shade for my complexion. So! I am just trying to speak out for those Beautiful, Brown-Skinned Black Women which have as hard a period finding make-up as I do. So, let me supply you with a little background on me.
To begin with, Black is beautiful, and also the darker the berry the sweeter the juice! With that being said, at 14 I was a little bit blackberry without having a clue. When I first started wearing makeup it absolutely was just lipstick and yes it started being my mom’s Fashion Fair. My mother who may be light-skinned and contains a daughter who seems to be dark-skinned. Of course her lipstick did NOT match at all. I used to be even known as a dark-skinned Ronald McDonald from a previous ex-boyfriend!
So, In my opinion that us brown-skinned and dark-skinned women need a little extra help since it is tougher for us to get make-up that suits in drugstores, or makeup dark skin that is affordable. Plus Cosmo and Glamour as well as them continually be speaking about great makeup for spring, but uh, hello would you forget black girls like makeup for spring too? So, I feel your pain. I am just a self-appointed make-up aficionado, and would want to offer my experiences and also some goods that are FABO instead of a lot fabo. So… without further ado, let’s get going!
JUST AN FYI: They are all make-ups which i have experienced to make use of through experimentation thus i am sharing from EXPERIENCE!
FACE: I find it hard to find a very good foundation, and full-coverage make-up which is affordable so here are several wonderful finds that I have discovered that happen to be both.
1-Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Liquid Foundation- Spicy Brown
PROS- it really is proficient at matching skin color which may have yellow or red undertones, spreads easily of course, if you simply need moderate coverage offers you an effective value for your money. It is actually affordable ranging about 6-8 bucks, and you can believe it is in many drugstores, and food markets.
CONS- When you have dark spots and blemishes, this can NOT offer you the coverage you will need! Not close, okay? Furthermore, it wears off quickly so you would need to reapply often. The bottle is upside-down with some spout, when you pour out too much, you cannot put it in the bottle and in these periods of financial crisis er’ bit counts am I right ladies?!
Also, if you have problems matching the skin tone since you have BOTH yellow and red, or maybe blue and red undertones, this collection may not be for you personally as there is not really a vast selection to choose from, so you might have to go forward. Other shades that are great for brown-skinned to dark-skinned gals, and a few of you fellas! Rich Mink, Sheer Espresso, and True Ebony.
2- Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation
PROS-It provides you with more coverage compared to the Liquid Foundation. That’s it. That’s about all I will consider.
CONS-Unfortunately, it rubs off QUITE quickly. It is additionally tinted slightly differently in comparison to the liquid foundation so I thought it was harder to match my skin tone. Also, if it was warm outside it wipes RIGHT off, and revealed every blemish in my face! LOL, it also wipes off on your own clothes, stains both your hands, the whole bit. It’s moderately priced also, so if you want to look nice for any date at nighttime, going somewhere cool, it’s a fast fix, having said that i wouldn’t put it on for the club, or possibly a carnival, anywhere that might be warm, or sweaty. It can be chosen in a similar.
3- Black Opal True Color Liquid Foundation – Black Walnut
PROS-Awesome Coverage. There is a reasonably bit inside the bottle so it may last you a good while. It is an upright standing bottle having a generous opening, so when you pour out an excessive amount of, it won’t be too difficult to obtain back into the bottle, to help you SAVE, SAVE, SAVE! I wear foundation daily, sometimes wash my face and re-apply if hanging out that night, and that bottle lasts me in regards to a good sixty days or more. You will recognize that it ranges from about 8-12 bucks… dependant upon where you reside. Therefore it is an excellent buy.
CONS- When you have combination to oily skin, WEAR POWDER, and maintain it with you! Throughout these upcoming warm to hot days, you might look really greasy in the face. But when you keep Blotters together with you, or powders, you have to be okay. Also, it may be that MY complexion changes, thus if that is the case disregard, but I learn that after i head to buy a fresh one, the shade might not match just like the previous one, so be mindful of this.
Another con is Black Opal Products could be a little harder to discover in shops than other products which I mention. I don’t know if it’s that they’re not that popular, or what, but whenever I look I always see them either in Rite-Aid, or CVS. So, happy hunting. Other colors best for brown-skinned girls… Carob, Suede Mocha, and Ebony Brown….. And then for you borderline caramel to brown-skin girls, Hazelnut!
4-Maybelline Pure Makeup (Shine Free Foundation with H2O) – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- Very affordable, readily accessible. Based in Most drugstores, supermarkets, Wal-Mart. Costs range about 5.99-10 bucks, based on your region. Full coverage, doesn’t clog your pores, spreads easily.
CONS-Upside down tube, so you will have to be exact about how exactly much is essential for your face, cause if you utilize too much… it would go to waste. Limited colors for darker skin color. They merely have THREE shades for women of OUR color. Dark 1- Tan, Dark 2- Caramel, and Dark 3-Cocoa. I have used the Cocoa. It is too dark for my skin-tone.
However, the Caramel Dark 2 is simply too light. So, when you are pressed for the money and don’t have enough money to experiment, I wouldn’t waste my time for this product. They have got FIVE shades focused on light, FOUR for medium and simply three for all of us darkies??!!! Leave this product alone, except if you eventually match EXACTLY. Have a great time evading the lady who tries to watch you when you attempt to sample these products within the store!
5- Black Radiance Color Perfect Oil Free Liquid Make-Up- Cocoa Bean
PROS-Very economical! VERY! Somewhat accessible. Costs about 5.99-10 bucks, and you can discover it in several Beauty Supply stores, CVS carries it. Spreads evenly, good coverage, get quite a bit for your buck. Also, can be purchased in a jar having an open spout, if you have too much, you are able to place it in there. Provides you with a nice matte finish.
CONS- Cocoa Bean fails to match my skin tone! Having Said That I also have strange undertones occurring with my skin, so which can be why it really is so difficult to fit. Whenever you apply this makeup it dries an alternative color, it’s crazy. There’s this… weird… applicator thingy, unsure what to do with it, but it just became within my way basically. Says it is good for all skin types, nevertheless i have very sensitive skin on my own face, and that i learned that within 30 minutes my face was suffocating and I found it necessary to wash it off. Other shades to use are Brownie and Mocha Honey.
6- L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup- Nut Brown
PROS-Oh my goodness you guys this make-up was awesome! Spread really, fantastic! Matches wonderfully for a yellow undertone. Truly does a brown-skinned girl justice. Light, so your skin can breathe. Good coverage for girls with blemishes. Pretty simple to find, and I claim that with hesitance, because 7 times out from 10 they may carry all Although the shades for brown-skinned. Um, I see them at Wal-Mart, Walgreens..and that’s basically it.
CONS- The product has SPF and that i am VERY allergic to sun block so that it broke me out something terrible. Type of hard to find. It’s a little bit more expensive in comparison to the previous products mentioned. MMM, I might say about 10.99 or higher. You could possibly discover it for sale. Also, there may be not a great deal inside the bottle, so use sparingly when you can. Other shades to try…. Soft Sable and Cocoa.
7- Revlon Color Stay Make-Up with Soft Flex – Mahogany
PROS- Pretty easy to find in many drugstores. Colors are ideal for brown-skinned girls. Kind of affordable. Just a little on the high end but about 9.99-12.99 for this product. The coverage is okay… Not the best, but should you be looking for light to moderate coverage this is a great product.
CONS- Now, I came across that Mahogany did not match my undertones that great. I understand…. Again with the undertones. It dried and made my skin look just a little grayish and chalky. There exists 58deyypky a real good selection to select from for darker skin tones. Has SPF6, unhealthy for me, but good for anyone who is just not allergic. Also, again, if you don’t have the undertone problem…. Other shades to test… Cappuccino and Mocha.
Not only that but Definitely not least…
8- Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- OH MY GOSH…… loving this system!! (sing song voice) this is the current constitute I am just using now! It def does precisely what the commercial says. It covers your pores, and offers you with a great finish! Maximum coverage! Need NO concealer, well… maybe a little bit, but I don’t use any. It is quite affordable, between about 7-10 bucks. I discovered it right in the Kroger food market, so it should be offered by most drug stores. It features a nifty little nozzle that squirts out and it’s really convenient. Additionally it is whipped feeling, and that i apply with my fingers.
It just glides right on, and begins covering my pores and brown spots, along with its not very heavy, I don’t have to wear a bunch. The very best also comes off, so if I over-squirt, I will input it right in the bottle. There’s lots in the bottle, and you don’t need to use a good deal for coverage. I feel I bought this bottle a month ago and I have a bit more than half a bottle left. It’s great! I adore it. Hopefully this will be the end in the road in my opinion, but usually it isn’t!
